Guwahati runs Pinkathon

Date: September 27, 2015. Guwahati was painted pink on this sunny Sunday. Around 5000 women of all hues participated in the marathon, or rather Pinkathon, led by model Milind Soman. The starting point of the run was Sonaram High School Field, Bharalumukh. Everything was taken care of, right from toilet facility to recovery zone, ambulances, fluid supplement and free health check-up for the women above the age of forty five. Three groups were formed on the basis of the kilometres opted by the participants. Women of various age groups participated with immense enthusiasm.

The warm-up sessions before and after the run, grooving to the popular Bollywood numbers, following the steps of Sameer Sachdeva and his group from Delhi Salsa Club, boosted the energy level of every participant.

Milind, who believes that women’s health is a serious issue to pay attention to, said that the cause of the event this time was basically for the awareness of breast cancer, as a huge number of women from the Northeast India is affected by the disease. The cause of Pinkathon may vary, depending on any issue related to women’s health. The motto of the run is to make the women inspire themselves as well as her counterparts to join the community of “Pink Sisters”, spreading the message “I run I inspire”.
