Thumb Print Conversations will try to delve into the poetry of Meena Kumari

Off-screen legendary actor Meena Kumari was a powerful poet. Poetry was the only channel of free self-expression for this intelligent and sensitive woman, who writing under the pen name “Naaz”, could fashion some imaginative and striking imagery or convey an endearing wistfulness, in that queen of languages, Urdu.
Spurred by Prof. Noorul Hasan’s book “Meena Kumari The Poet: A Life Beyond Cinema”, Thumb Print Conversations, an initiative of the webzine www.thethumbprintmag.com will try to rediscover her poetry.
The conversation will be held in collaboration with FLO, the ladies wing of FICCI and hosted by Terra Mayaa.

The conversation will be moderated by bureaucrat Ashutosh Agnihotri. The ice-breaker will be UK-based writer Daisy Hasan, who will give the introductory remarks and the concluding remarks will be made by tea veteran Robin Borthakur.
Added attraction will be the screening of the classic film ‘Sahib, Biwi aur Ghulam. The event will be anchored by disability rights activist Arman Ali. Chairperson FLO, Smita Agarwal will give the vote of thanks.
