‘Naritwar Udjapan’ by Florence Handique Rabha, the Assamese translation of her coffee table book ‘Celebrating Womanhood’ was released in Guwahati recently.
‘Naritwar Udjapan’ is a documentation of her TV interviews with 31 remarkable women from Assam, who have achieved much success in their respective fields through hard-work and dedication. The book is truly a gem highlighting the contributions made by these women to home, society and the nation. Their inspirational stories have been re-told through a series of informal conversations and make for an interesting read.
Translator Bikas Jyoti Barua was present and spoke about how the book can inspire and motivate young women of the region to pursue their dreams. Renowned Assamese author, Leena Sarma is the editor of the Assamese version. Dr. Lakshahira Das, eminent litterateur, lyricist and singer was the Chief Guest and Mitra Phukan, renowned writer was the Guest of Honour. A message by the Tarun Gogoi, the chief minister of Assam was also read out before the audience comprising of celebrities like Bobbeeta Sarma, Tarali Sharma, Dipannita Jaiswal, Nishita Goswami, Kopil Bora, Pranay Bordoloi and other guests.
Florence Handique Rabha, a television personality and actor has been passionately involved with electronic media since 2004. Apart from regularly anchoring prime time English news (2004-2013), she has hosted about 400 live talk shows (both on TV and radio) and has interviewed well-known personalities from various fields on her show Good Morning Northeast. She has also acted in Hindi and Assamese TV serials, short films and English plays. Her TV shows, ‘DY-WOMAN’ and ‘PAGE 3’ have been widely appreciated by viewers across Assam and the Northeast.
